WHAT DO WE OFFER?

CAS offers study and training in a contemporary form of the Alexander Technique, designed to help you apply the principles of the work directly to your real-life situations. You can study through lessons, workshops, retreats, courses, and trainings in satellite cities throughout North America.

There are two certificate programs offered thru CAS: one in Personal and Professional Enrichment, and one to become a certified Alexander Teacher.

The Enrichment Program offers a self-paced exploration of the Principles of the Work in daily and professional life.

The CAS Teacher Training prepares you to teach individuals and groups, through classical and contemporary styles, with a deep, embodied, understanding not only of Contemporary Alexander, but also the art of teaching it.

We offer a holistic approach, recognizing that we are physical-mental-emotional-spiritual-sensual-energetic beings. We use the principles of Alexander’s work to examine all of these aspects, allowing us to consciously choose how we wish to express ourselves. Our curriculum honors these aspects of ourselves through studies in ways of being, ways of knowing, and ways of teaching.

WHO ARE WE?

The Contemporary Alexander School is a learning community dedicated to furthering the Work of F.M. Alexander with self-paced, non-residential Contemporary Alexander Enrichment Programs, Teacher Training, & Post-Graduate Studies. In addition, there are study opportunities for Personal Exploration and Professional CEUs. Founded by Robyn Avalon, CAS is the US branch of Alexander Alliance International.

CAS IS DEDICATED TO WORKING TOWARDS EQUITY, JUSTICE AND BELONGING

CAS recognizes the power of Alexander’s work to bring people together in honest expression of our ways of being, including our cultures, our heritages, and our identities.

Our school enjoys the potential of Alexander’s work to increase access to embodied belonging for anyone who wishes to study.

We intend to maintain a curious and humble inquiry as to how our organization can better serve this potential in every moment. We act in accordance.
